NO MATTER NO GRAVITY

"At first glance, Stuart Ashley looks like any other down-on-his-luck 50-something. His family has grown up, his seemingly-happy marriage with wife Zoe is starting to fall apart and he’s just been made redundant from his managerial position at an electrical generator plant, despite being an incredibly gifted practical engineer. Perhaps that was part of the problem though; Stuart has always viewed the world through a different lens than other people, deeply understanding the construction of machines, science and the world while failing miserably to apply that same logic to real human beings. However, it’s those very same skills that would prove to be life changing when he encounters a strange phenomenon in his workshop. When a spanner he drops floats in mid-air, Stuart’s stunned brain is sent into overdrive to figure out how such a break in physics could be possible. Supported by his friend Rob, his obsession with figuring out the freak event leads him to two conclusions. 1) Gravity isn’t singular but a composition of different forces interacting from throughout the cosmos. 2) He can figure out a way to harness this power. Controlling this energy, Stuart is able to make radical breakthroughs in science that could propel current technology 100 years into the future. That is, if anyone believes him. Gaining more and more traction in the public eye, his breakthrough and subsequent experiments quickly become a source of fascination for major companies and entire governments, not all of who are willing to share Stuart’s discovery. What started out as an obsessive experiment in a cramped workshop is about to change the world forever, but the question is: will it be for the better?"

Achim’s Story

Achim's Story is based on the life of one of the few people who survived the sinking of the Steuben by the Russians in February 1945. 4,500 people perished in the Baltic Sea. This is believed to be the third greatest loss of life at sea after the Gustloff and the Goya. Joachim Wedekind zur Horst was interviewed and quoted in the February 2005 National Geographic article Ghost Ship about the sinking and finding of the Steuben. On February 13, 2005, Joachim was featured in an article in the New Orleans Times Picayune Dredging Up Memories by Mark Waller about his experience surrounding the Steuben.
